The hosts of Hotel Investment Forum India (HIFI) have announced the winners of the Deal of the Year awards (hotels opened November 2012 – October 2013) in the categories of Budget and Mid-Priced, First Class and Upper Mid-Scale, and Luxury and Upscale. The awards were presented at Hotel Investment Forum India (HIFI) on 15 January 2014, at the Leela Ambience Gurgaon Hotel and Residences, Delhi (N.C.R.), India. adsense protection HIFI is hosted by Burba Hotel Network (BHN) and Horwath HTL.
In the category of Budget and Mid-Priced, the winner is Holiday Inn Express, Ahmedabad, with 173 keys, developed at a total cost of Rs 854 mn (at a cost per room of Rs 3.58 mn excluding cost of land and IDC), owned by Duet India Hotels and InterContinental Hotels Group, and operated by InterContinental Hotels Group. Nominees in this category also included Hotel Tune, Motera-Ahmedabad, and Country Inn & Suites, Goa Panjim.
In the category of First Class and Upper Mid-Scale, the winner is Hyatt Place Hampi, Vidyanagar-Karnataka, with 115 keys, developed at a total cost of Rs 620 mn (at cost per room of Rs 5.39 mn excluding cost of land and IDC, leased land), owned by Chartered Hotels Pvt. Ltd and operated by Hyatt Hotels & Resorts. Nominees in this category also included Crowne Plaza, Greater Noida, and The Gateway Hotel-IT Expressway, Chennai.
In the category of Luxury and Upscale, there was a tie. The winners are Dusit Devarana, New Delhi, and Vivanta by Taj, Madikeri-Coorg. Dusit Devarana, New Delhi, with 50 keys and developed at a cost of Rs 500 million (at a cost per room of Rs 10.00 mn excluding land and interest), is owned by the Bird Group and operated by Dusit Bird Hotels, India. Vivanta by Taj, Madikeri-Coorg, with 63 keys and developed at a total cost of Rs 1,050 mn (at a cost per room of Rs 16.67 mn including interest and pre-operating expenses), is owned by Kaveri Resorts and Retreats Pvt. Ltd (A JV company of Indian Hotels Co. Ltd) and operated by Indian Hotels Co. Ltd. Hilton Shillim Estate Retreat and Spa, Shillim-Maharashtra, was also a nominee in this category.
Dr. A.J. Singh chaired the committee comprised of hotel industry leaders who nominated, reviewed, and selected the finalists. Finalists were then sent to HIFI delegates for voting and the winners were selected.
HIFI is India’s most important hotel investment conference. It is the annual meeting place for the leaders in the Indian hotel and tourism industry to discuss important trends, network, identify new opportunities, and do deals through a combination of plenary sessions, breakout panels, and interactive workshops.
